Supervision

I provide individual and group clinical supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors.

My Approach

My aim is that supervisees feel held, supported and gently challenged; that they leave sessions with a renewed energy and motivation. As a firm believer in genuine self care, I will also help create a safe space for you to explore your well-being during supervision. Often supervisees can rush to share their experiences of clients, which of course is important too, but I will invite you to slow down to begin with how you are. I aim to support supervisees to reflect on their well-being, energy levels, caseload and anything else which may be impacting their client work, to ensure your wellness and best practice for your clients. I am also trauma informed and have extensive experience and understanding of supporting vicarious trauma and burnout.

Experience

I trained in Person Centred counselling at Strathclyde University (PG Dip) and graduated in 2015. Since qualifying, I have gained considerable experience in a variety of different areas: in addition to private practice, I have worked in the third sector counselling adults, young people and children aged 12+. I have worked extensively with trauma including four years at a rape crisis centre, the last 18 months of which I managed their young people’s counselling service. I have also managed a counselling service for BAME women and children with complex trauma. I am now in private practice full time.

I trained with Persona for 6 months from the beginning of 2020 to gain my Clinical Counselling Supervision certificate. This training reignited my passion for supporting people to grow and develop, something which I feel passionately about in both my clinical and supervisory work. I believe I am a good fit for both experienced and trainee counsellors and will provide a safe, nurturing space for you (and your clients).

Organisations

I am also an approved supervisor for trainee counsellors on the Persona Counselling Diploma and for those counselling at the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

Modalities

Although I am a person centred counsellor and supervisor, I have experience of supervising therapists from various different modalities including: CBT, integrative, person centred, psychodynamic and art therapy. I have a curiosity for other approaches and believe this supervisory relationship can work well together.

Initial Meeting

I believe supervision should be a collaborative relationship between colleagues and I would be keen to discuss each of our expectations and how we might work together during an initial meeting. It’s important you feel safe and comfortable enough with me to share both the positive and difficult moments in your client work, so as we can work together to ensure you are providing the best practice possible.

Cost

My fee is £50 per hour of supervision and £75 for an hour and a half.

Please note: The full cost of the session applies for cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice as I am usually unable to fill the appointment at such short notice.

Next Steps

If you have any questions or would like to discuss working together, please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
